About the program

Inspired by MIT. Built for Nairobi.

Momentum ML is directly inspired by Momentum at MIT — an in-person machine learning program for Boston high schoolers taught by MIT researchers. We're bringing the same ethos to Kenya: world-class AI education, completely free, for bright students who wouldn't otherwise get access.

Students will leave able to model real problems as AI problems, train and deploy full AI-native applications, and — ideally — start building solutions to the local challenges they know best.

Linear algebra, backpropagation, optimization, and scaling laws — taught rigorously with daily lab sessions to cement understanding.

Students implement neural networks, transformers, and CNNs from first principles — not just API calls.

A two-day Kaggle-style competition with real data, real prizes, and real pressure — a taste of the global AI landscape.
